Double-booking is the failure everyone remembers
A booking page that does not know your calendar is a list of times you hope are free. One dentist appointment entered somewhere else and you are apologising to a client, the one kind of scheduling failure that costs more than the booking was worth.
Availability here starts from the weekly hours you set and then removes whatever your live Google Calendar says you are busy for. The published slot is a slot that survives both checks.
How the calendar connection works
Read access, and only busy time
Availability needs read access and nothing more. We check whether a time is taken; the titles, guests and contents of your own events are not what the booking page is built from. Letting BooknTalk write bookings onto your calendar is a separate grant you can decline.
A meeting link per booking
Every booking gets its own video room on BooknTalk with nothing to connect first, included in the confirmation email and on the calendar entry. Grant calendar write access and the link is a Google Meet one on your own account instead.
Or no link at all
An event you hold at an address is marked in-person and carries that address into the confirmation and the calendar invite. No video link is created, because there is nothing to join.
Time off you block yourself
Block a date range and those slots disappear from the page for that event, without touching the weekly hours underneath.
What we don't do
Google Calendar only, no Outlook, no iCloud, no CalDAV. Video is BooknTalk’s own service or your own Google Meet; a Teams or Zoom link would have to be added by hand if you use one. Disconnecting is immediate: the stored token is revoked with Google and deleted, and availability falls back to the weekly hours alone.

Common questions
What access does BooknTalk ask for?
Read access to your calendar, used to see whether a time is already taken. Write access is optional and asked for separately: grant it and bookings are created on your own calendar with a Google Meet link on them. Our data handling for Google user data is set out in the privacy section of our terms.
Will clients see what my calendar events are?
No. Only whether a time is free or busy affects the booking page. Nothing from your own entries is published.
Do bookings get a video link?
Yes, unless the event is in-person. Every booking gets its own room on BooknTalk’s video service by default, nothing to connect, and it is included in the confirmation email and the calendar entry. Connect Google with write access and the link comes from your own Google Meet instead.
Can I disconnect?
At any time, from your backoffice. The token is revoked with Google and deleted immediately, and your availability reverts to the weekly hours you published.
